about the workshop
this beginner to intermediate photography workshop is designed for anyone who wants to learn how to better understand their digital slr camera, and incorporate post-processing editing techniques.
over the course of the workshop you will familiarise yourself with all of your camera's functions and control settings. while embarking on numerous field trips both on-campus and off and having the opportunity to photograph several professional models in the beautiful japanese gardens.
we also cover the essentials of adobe lightroom classic and photoshop 2020 and the many practical functions that they offer, such as: workflow, non-destructive editing techniques, creative laying, file saving and essential storage options.

don has been a professional photographer since 1988 after graduating from the queensland college of art with distinctions. during his working life at usq as the senior photographer, don was encouraged by one of the arts lecturers to undertake a teaching role with the flying arts inc. in 2001. since that time, don has been travelling around regional queensland, new south wales and new zealand, teaching workshops, running guided tours, guest speaking at symposiums and providing one-on-one photography lessons.
don now lives and works from the beautiful garden city of toowoomba, situated a 2-hour drive west of brisbane in queensland.

payment plan: you can select a payment plan option with a $100 non-refundable deposit. pay off the balance by 11 december 2020.
*$100 is a non-refundable deposit to cover event preparation and administration costs.
please note the tuition fee does not include materials. the material cost noted is indicative only if you need to purchase every item. you may already have some of the required materials or tools in your artwares collection. the level of investment of artwares and tools is often your choice and we encourage you to liaise with your tutor prior to your workshop.

in order to ensure the safety of all attendees and university staff, the following covid-19 related regulations will be in place during the event, in line with our relevant risk management plans and covid safe plans:
- capacity in each room will be limited in line with correct social distancing measures.
- hand sanitiser will be available inside each workshop space and in common spaces.
- attendees will not be required to wear masks, but may do so if they wish
- it is requested that attendees maintain social distancing (1.5m) whilst moving around the campus and in class.
- if an attendee becomes ill during the workshop, experiencing covid-19 related symptoms, they will be required to leave the workshop as soon as possible so that they may seek appropriate medical attention
- provisions are available on campus for isolation for those registrants staying on campus.
- if attendees fall ill or begin experiencing covid-19 symptoms within 24 hours of attending the workshop, please email mcgregor@usq.edu.au to advise if you are not attend.
- unfortunately, if an attendee lives in a current hot spot as determined by queensland health, they will be unable to attend, again to ensure the safety of all attendees and staff.
- attendance is restricted to queensland residents only, in line with interstate travel restrictions
